The most popular flooring in Charleston, SC
Luxury vinyl plank has become the best-selling flooring category in the country, and around the Charleston tri-county area it's easy to see why: it's 100% waterproof, scratch-resistant, holds up to kids and pets, looks nearly identical to hardwood, and typically installs for roughly half the cost.
Carpet To Go Flooring has been fitting North Charleston homes with quality flooring since 1995, and we stock LVP from Shaw, Mohawk, COREtec, and Floorté - including the rigid SPC and WPC cores that hold up well in humid, marsh-adjacent neighborhoods where moisture is a year-round concern.

How to choose the right LVP
Three numbers tell you almost everything you need to know about an LVP product: wear layer, core construction, and total thickness. We'll walk through what each one means for your home during your free consultation.
- Wear layer 12-20 mil - residential, light traffic (rentals, bedrooms)
- Wear layer 22 mil - residential whole-home (most popular)
- Wear layer 28-30 mil - heavy residential and commercial
- SPC core (stone polymer composite) - rigid, won't telegraph subfloor imperfections
- WPC core (wood polymer composite) - softer underfoot, warmer feel
- Total thickness 5mm-8mm - thicker is quieter and more forgiving

Learn moreClick-lock vs. glue-down installation
Click-lock LVP floats over the subfloor, installs quickly, and is easy to repair plank by plank. Glue-down LVP feels more substantial underfoot, runs quieter, and is usually the better call for large open floor plans and higher-traffic areas. We'll recommend the right method based on your subfloor and room layout, and our crews install both.

Professional LVP installation
The difference between a great LVP install and a disappointing one almost always comes down to subfloor prep. We level every dip, fill every low spot, and use the manufacturer-required underlayment on every job. Our crews also handle vinyl stair treads with full-tread coverage, remove the quarter round and replace with new, and full disposal of your existing floor - ask us about financing options if you'd rather spread the cost out.

Luxury Vinyl Plank - frequently asked questions
Yes - LVP is one of the best options for below-grade and flood-prone spaces. It's waterproof, handles concrete subfloors without acclimation issues, and feels far warmer than tile.
The top wear layer resists scratches well, but it isn't indestructible - dog claws and furniture dragged across cheaper LVP can leave marks. For large dogs, we recommend a 20-mil-plus wear layer.
Quality LVP with a 22-mil-plus wear layer typically lasts 20-25 years in a normal home. Commercial-rated LVP can go 25-30 years.
The LVP we carry is FloorScore certified for indoor air quality and CARB Phase II compliant for formaldehyde, so it's safe to install in nurseries and homes with allergy sensitivities.
